In this article, we’d like to share the background and design philosophy behind our decision to build ExcelTL, our ETL tool, as an on-premises (local installation) solution rather than a cloud-based (SaaS) one.

Why We Chose On-Premises Over SaaS

Many ETL tools and iPaaS products are provided as SaaS on the cloud. Indeed, cloud-based services are convenient — they’re easy to set up, manage, and scale. However, through years of experience operating cloud infrastructure, we’ve witnessed first-hand the risks SaaS can bring.

A temporary server outage can affect all users, and even after recovery, restoring data integrity and applying patches can be a major struggle. We were determined not to repeat those scenarios with ExcelTL.

Data Is Our Customers’ Most Valuable Asset

For any organization, data is both an intellectual property and a business resource. We believe that entrusting such critical data to an external cloud inherently carries risk. That’s why we chose an architecture where all operations are completed within the customer’s own environment.

Your data always stays under your control — every process of transfer and storage can be fully managed in-house. We’re confident that this structure provides the best possible protection for data authenticity and security.

We understand that for smaller organizations, building and maintaining their own servers can be a significant cost and operational burden. To address this concern, we decided to offer affordable server setup and maintenance services alongside ExcelTL.
